PTA Local Awards - Submit Your Volunteers Today!

Awards can be a simple and great motivator for your unit. There are a number of categories that you can utilze to recognize your members. Please consider submitting and bringing as many delegates as you can to infuse your volunteers with enthusiastic outside recognition. The awards will be presented by the Massachusetts PTA President for a great photo op to bring back to your school. All awards will be presented at the 100th Celbration on Saturday (April 10th) at the JUNGLEPEX, 8 Natalie Way, Plymouth, MA.
Award categories are listed below. Simply type a paragraph or two for the award you are submitting. You can either send it electronically or, if you are including back-up documentation, send it through the mail. Please complete submissions by March 8, 2010 (deadline extended).

Awards That Need No Application:
Outstanding Unit
Based on information sent in, we will notify the unit winning this award by March 1st.
Membership Award
Based on your membership increase this school year, we will provide awards to units in attendance of the convention.
Most Delegates
This popular award is back! Base on the number of delegates registered for the 100th Anniversary Convention, we will award a very nice trophy to applaud your team spirit.
Awards That Need a Brief Application:
The Carol Woodbury Leadership Award
Carol Woodbury was the president of the Massachusetts PTA from 1999-2002. During her term, she inspired units across the state to work together and form positive relationships with school administrations and the community. Carol continues to work on behalf of students, parents and teachers in Massachusetts where she works as a superintendent. Write a brief description of an inspiring leader in your local unit. Tell us what makes that person inspiring and how it made a difference in your school/community.
The Barbara Bailey Membership Award
Barbara Bailey was the president of the Massachusetts PTA in the early 1990’s. During her term (and beyond!), she was able to help units manage memberships, bylaws, and conflicts. To commemorate her continued dedication to units across the state, we are honored to name this award after her. Describe a successful membership drive that your unit has completed during the past year.
Voices for Children: Raising your voice for every child
In a short essay, describe how your unit has used grass roots advocacy to improve the educational atmosphere for the children in your school or community. Attach flyers or newspaper articles that are related.
Father Involvement
In a short essay, describe how your unit has utilized or involved fathers in your school or community. Attach flyers or newspaper articles that are related.
Student Participation and Achievement Award
In a short essay, describe a student at your school who exemplifies and stands out among others of his/her peers, how they adopted and carried out the mission of the PTA and volunteered much of their time to bring this to fruition.
Outstanding Newsletter/Web-site Award
Send in one copy of at least 3 newsletters sent to your members during the current school year. If submitting a web site, please submit that site’s URL for review. This site must have that local unit’s name, as well as the unit’s officers listed.
Outstanding Programs Award
In a short essay, describe a unique program that your PTA sponsored. Attach flyers or newspaper articles that are related.
Spirit of PTA Award
This award recognizes volunteers who promote and encourage the essence of PTA in their communities…everyChild.oneVoice. Members must be registered to accept award at the Spring Fling.
Outstanding Anti-Bullying Program Recognition Award
This award will be given to a local PTA unit that has created and implemented a successful anti-bullying program within their school. Attach flyers, newspaper articles, school newspaper or any article that describes this program. Said program must be at least 3 months into its implementation at the school.
Local Unit Presentation Award
On Friday, April 9th, at the Hilton Garden Inn, we want you to share any accomplishments that your unit has achieved during the school year. Presentations should be in the form of a tri-fold, standing presentation and/or a PowerPoint presentation. Pictures, press and creativity are welcomed. Awards for the following will be presented during lunch on Saturday, April 10th, at the JUNGLEPLEX:
- Most Unique Accomplishment
- Highest Overall Outstanding Unit Display
- Best Originality and Creative Display
